About the collection: A staple in many Puerto Rican homes is a set of dominoes.  The word “capicú” comes from the catalan “capicúa” which means “head or tail”.  It is customary to yell out “capicú” when the winning piece can be played at either end of the domino layout during a game.  Capicúúú (extended in the same way some Puerto Ricans extend it in the thrill of winning) came about when it was noticed that a piece was missing from a set.  Not wanting the remaining pieces to be thrown away, these became a new canvas to create on.
